Get Your Golf Swing Moving like Clockwork
A fluid golf swing starts with some real basics!
Have a hot shower an hour or so before you get to the golf course. Don't have the air conditioning turned up to much on the way to the course. Even better, leave it off as the cold air can tighten your muscles. Limber up by swinging a club like a baseball bat for a minute or so. Just back and forwards, forwards and back - don't use too much effort - don't strain. Do some leg stretches and shoulder stretches. This will get you to first base. It's also a good idea to have a massage or see a physiotherapist on a regular basis just to make sure you haven't got any tight muscles or knots. Once you are warmed up you are now ready to think about the swing. Start with a some chips and pitches. This will get your eye focused, increase your depth perception and help your general feel on ball striking. Pre-ball take off check list. Where do I want to aim? Aim Alignment Posture Grip Waggle Once you have your aim, alignment, posture, grip waggle set you are ready to swing. Roll your forearms until you are at 9.00 o'clock. Coil your arms across your chest until your left shoulder is in line with your chin. The back of your hand should be an extension of your forearm with your right hand palm facing the sky. Drop the arms and roll the forearms as you go past impact. Look for a balanced finish in your golf swing with your chest facing the target and your spine maintaining the set up tilt to the right. If your direction is not consistent, experiment with reducing your grip pressure at set up as it may be too tight or too loose.
