Golf Pitching Tips to Lower your Handicap
Golf pitching tips and the practice of these fundamental principals is one of the quickest ways to lower your handicap.
Imagine if you could get up and down from 10 20 and 30 metres 50 % of the time. How low would your scores be? The problem is that these shots do not require a full swing. The shot required varies on the terrain to the pin, fast or slow greens and what sort of lie your ball has (bare, perfect, rough, divot etc). The Golf pitching tips are as follows:- Remember this is only a 2 lever swing. Arms back and wrist cocked. Thats it. Keep the legs, hips and shoulders out of the swing. Have an open stance and angle both feet out a little with knees slightly bent, your weight on the left side and a balanced stance. Imagine you have been riding a horse for a week and you have just gotten off the horse. Thats the stance! Set up with a neutral grip, with your arms and hands preset to impact position. Maintain your right wrist angle through the shot to a balanced finish. Thats it for the swing. The problem is working out what shots you can repeat. This depends on terrain, thin or bare lie, up or downhill approach, distance on the green to the pin etc.etc.etc. Simplify your choices. Get your 7 and pitching iron sorted and then work on your lob wedge. This is where you have to put in some serious time. Start with your 7 Iron. Go to a flat practice area with a green. Work out your natural shots. Just hit 10 or 20 balls with a 9 to 9 swing. Watch their landing spot and where the ball finishes. Now measure the carry and run for this 7 iron shot and write in your journal. Do this a couple more times with a club or marker on the ground at the landing point to confirm your natural 9 to 9 shot. Repeat this for 8 to 8 and 7 to 7 swings. Now you have a pitching flight map. You are not quite finished with the 7 iron pitching flight map just yet. Go back and repeat the process with an open face and a closed face. This will give you a large range of options for your approach shots. For uphill and down hill shots you can open or close the face or change from a 9 to 9 to a 7 to 7 as required to give the ball different landing positions and more or less run. Master this with your pitching wedge and lob wedge and you will feel confident and dramatically improve your scoring potential with these golf pitching tips. Golf Pitching Tips - Super Tip Choose a golf ball you want to play with and get 50 or a 100 of them and only practice with that exact ball. The reason for this is the ball flight map will also change for the type of ball you use. For ball suggestions see golf ball tips with links for purchasing new and second hand balls.
